STEEL DIVERGENCE

The design is able to push the flow away from the bicycle lane by creating an offramp style convergence towards the bicycle parking. This gives a use of the roof top and allows more space underneath for reading activities. The cantilevered end stretches out into the gentle flora away from the noisy bicycle lane by using a steel truss system that gives a unique shape similar to bicycle spokes on a wheel. The space underneath is formed by the truss system, creating low spaces ideal for reading. The concept of diverging the flow of bicyclists and the slower pedestrian traffic away became the design intent encompassing the structure and the programmatic space within.
